Happy Thursday, folks.
Remember how, after multiple delays, this past weekend we finally saw SpaceX's Starship V3 launch? Well, it turns out that this flight didn't exactly go to plan. In fact, things went so awry that the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration has declared the debut flight of the megarocket a "mishap," and is now launching an investigation that must take place before the rocket can fly again.
We will have to see how SpaceX handles this setback, what really happened during this flight, and how the company will get the rocket in flying order for (hopefully) a successful second flight. With lots of excitement surrounding other space companies who have been contracted to start work on NASA's moon base, I can imagine SpaceX is feeling the pressure to correct things and get back on track.
And speaking of competition, China is moving ahead on its plans to land humans on the moon by 2030. If NASA's current Artemis plans hold, they will still land first, but we will have to wait and see if and how this new timeline from China adds pressure to the U.S. timeline for Artemis.
But there is much beyond this recent drama to get excited about. We have the details on the recent Russian cosmonaut spacewalk, which seemed to go well, a new study of the most powerful "ghost particle" ever spotted, and a new theory on where all of the water ice on Mercury came from. We're also starting to get really excited about the new He-Man movie "Masters of the Universe.
Check out what's big in space below!
