Two Chinese astronauts just set a new spacewalking record for the country. Ye Guangfu and Li Guangsu, two members of China's three-person Shenzhou 18 mission, spent about 8.5 hours working outside the Tiangong space station yesterday (May 28). That's longer than any previous Chinese spacewalk, or extravehicular activity (EVA), according to the nation's state-run Xinhua news service.
A new Earth-observation mission made it to space yesterday (May 28). A Falcon 9 rocket from SpaceX lifted off with the Earth Cloud Aerosol and Radiation Explorer satellite, or EarthCARE for short, from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California today at 6:20 p.m. EDT (2220 GMT or 3:20 p.m. local time in California). It was the second launch of the day for SpaceX, which also sent a group of its Starlink internet satellites to orbit from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida this morning.
Now is a great time to be on the lookout for binoculars deals as you can get some of the best binoculars for a reduced rate. You'll be forgiven for immediately thinking of the best telescopes when it comes to astronomy but, even though they don't offer the same viewing power, binoculars can offer stunning night sky views for less. You might find that some top binoculars are more cost-effective, even if you were to bag one of the best telescope deals.
An uncrewed Russian cargo spacecraft came crashing back to Earth today (May 28) as planned. The Progress 86 freighter undocked from the International Space Station (ISS) today at 4:39 a.m. EDT (0839 GMT) and headed back down to Earth.
The Falcon 9's first stage came back to Earth about 8 minutes after launch, landing on the droneship A Shortfall of Gravitas in the Atlantic Ocean. It was the 10th launch and landing for this particular first stage, according to a SpaceX mission description. Six of its nine flights to date have been Starlink missions.
For this dynamic sci-fi adventure, Arc Games and Cryptic Studios are bringing back a compelling character from "Star Trek: The Next Generation" in the form of an alternative universe version of Sela, a Human-Romulan hybrid played by Denise Crosby.
