What would happen if the asteroid Ryugu hit Earth?

Scientists have calculated what would happen if the asteroid Ryugu struck our planet. Predicting the result of such a collision was made possible thanks to the analysis of samples returned to Earth by the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency spacecraft Hayabusa2.

SpaceX may launch Starship orbital flight next week

Meet the 4 astronauts on NASA's Artemis 2 moon mission

On Monday, NASA announced the four crewmembers of Artemis 2, a 10-day flight around the moon that's targeted to lift off in late 2024. The quartet consists of NASA's Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover and Christina Hammock Koch and the Canadian Space Agency's Jeremy Hansen. Read on for brief biographical sketches of the four Artemis 2 astronauts, the first to voyage to lunar realms since NASA's Apollo 17 mission in December 1972.

Jeremy Hansen was named Monday (April 3) as the Canadian astronaut aboard NASA's Artemis 2 mission, which will visit our lunar neighbor in November 2024 or so. It's a big moment for Canada, which gained its seat through a next-generation robotic arm called Canadarm3, which will support NASA's moon-orbiting Gateway space station.

James Webb Space Telescope spies most ancient galaxies

Astronomers are now confident that the light from these galaxies has been traveling to Earth for over 13.4 billion years, two new studies report. The results show that these galaxies inhabited the universe when it was less than 350 million years old and demonstrate the rapid emergence of the first generations of galaxies.

*Плазмоника для систем терагерцовой электроники*

В докладе освещается современное состояние исследований в области
полупроводниковой плазмоники, проводимых в ИФТТ РАН. Уделяется внимание
приложениям данных исследований в области создания новейших устройств
терагерцовой электроники. Особо обсуждаются задачи в области двумерной
плазмоники, которые на настоящий момент не имеют внятной теоретической
интерпретации.
