Love, death, and/or Star Wars

Oh my, sci-fans are eating well in May. We've had Doctor Who season 2, Andor season 2, Murderbot, and Love, Death, + Robots Vol. 4 this month, and they've all been fantastic. Speaking of fantastic, we also got our first proper look at The Fantastic Four: First Steps and — dare I say it — it looks like it might be the first ever good Fantastic Four movie? Not a sentence I ever expected to write, but that's the raw power of Pedro Pascal for you.

The sci-fi train is showing no signs of slowing down as we barrel into the summer. Alongside the talented quartet, we've got Pixar's Elio, Marvel's Ironheart, James Gunn's Superman reboot, and Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 3 all on the docket for June and July. There's also Jurassic World: Rebirth, which doesn't seem very space-y, but that mutant dinosaur in the trailer looks an awful lot like a Rancor.

There aren't quite as many sci-fi games out recently, but that's fine; I'm too busy playing Blue Prince anyway. The future looks bright, though, as Titanfall developer Respawn is teaming up with Bit Reactor to make an X-COM style strategy game set in the Star Wars universe. Yes please, all of that!

Meanwhile, Microsoft is continuing its mission to spread the love across platforms in August, bringing a Gears of War remaster to PC, Xbox, and… drum roll, please… PlayStation 5! I'll take any excuse to replay Gears of War, and getting to crossplay with my buddies on PlayStation will be rad.

Speaking of rad (I'm bringing it back), we've had some amazing features on Space this month, led by some stellar retrospectives around May 4 (aka Star Wars Day). We looked back at the spoilerific Revenge of the Sith tie-in game and why The Clone Wars finale made Revenge of the Sith a better movie in hindsight. Alongside that, we also had a blockbuster interview with director Roger Christian, chatting about the infamous Battlefield Earth for its 25th anniversary.

See you out there,
