SpaceX is hoping to launch its first Starship test of 2024 as early as Thursday in what it hopes will be a historic orbital flight of the world's biggest rocket, and if you need to know when to watch it online, you're in the right place. Set your clocks for 8 a.m. ET (1200 GMT) on March 14.

Japan's 1st commercial rocket explodes after liftoff

A Japanese company's first orbital launch attempt ended in a dramatic failure just seconds after liftoff on Wednesday. The 18-meter-long, four-stage Kairos solid rocket lifted off from Space Port Kii in Kushimoto, western Japan at 10:01 p.m. EDT March 12 (0201 GMT or 11:01 a.m. Japan time on March 13). The flight ended abruptly seconds after it rose off the launch pad when the flight termination system triggered, resulting in the rocket exploding.

The public charter jet service JSX has announced it'll be arranging a specialty eclipse flight for winners of an online sweepstakes. Flight 4824, a release put out by the airlines says, will depart on April 8 from a JSX-dedicated hangar at Dallas-Love Field in Texas at 1:00 p.m. CT. The 30-seat jet will ascend 30,000 feet (9,144 meters) and travel within the path of totality — aka, the path along which you can see the moon totally eclipse the sun — then land back at the hangar by 3:00 p.m. CT. Everyone, of course, will get a window seat.

SpaceX to launch Starlink satellites tonight

SpaceX is set to tie its rocket-reuse record tonight.. A Falcon 9 rocket is scheduled to launch 23 of SpaceX's Starlink internet satellites to orbit from NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida tonight, during a four-hour window that opens at 7:29 p.m. EDT (2329 GMT). It will be the 19th flight for the Falcon 9 first stage.
