Perseverance rover celebrates 1,000 sols on Mars

Perseverance and its tiny robotic partner, the Ingenuity helicopter, landed inside Mars' Jezero Crater on Feb. 18, 2021. Ever since, the big rover has been hunting for signs of ancient Mars life on the floor of the 28-mile-wide (45 kilometers) Jezero, which is a great place to do such work. Now, the car-sized Perseverance has now been exploring its exotic environs for 1,000 Mars days, or sols.

Blue Origin will return to flight with uncrewed mission

Blue Origin will end its 15-month spaceflight hiatus next week, if all goes according to plan. The company, which was founded by Amazon's Jeff Bezos, hasn't flown since its New Shepard suborbital vehicle suffered an anomaly during an uncrewed research flight on Sept. 12, 2022. But that long drought is about to end.

Intergalactic 'stream of stars' is the 1st of its kind

Astronomers have accidentally discovered the first known intergalactic trail of stars. The gigantic "stellar stream," which is around 10 times longer than the Milky Way, suggests that more of these structures could be lurking in deep space, a new study reveals.

Watch Japanese startup test engine run on cow-dung

A Japanese space startup has taken a big step toward developing its first orbital rocket - which will be powered by gas from cow dung. Interstellar Technologies Inc. recently performed a combustion chamber static fire test at Japan's Hokkaido Spaceport as part of the development of the Cosmos engine for its Zero rocket.
