Perseverance rover finds weird snake-head rock on Mars

NASA's Perseverance rover has rolled up to some odd and intriguing Martian terrain.

On June 12, the car-sized Perseverance snapped a photo that could be mistaken for a still from an "Indiana Jones" movie. At the left of the tableau, a boulder perches precariously atop a slab of gray rock. And at right-center, a formation that looks very much like an open-mouthed snake head juts from a layered reddish butte.

The internet is abuzz with rumors that China may have picked up signals from an alien civilization. But don't get too excited, experts say.

The signal is almost certainly due to radio interference with a giant radio telescope.

Boeing reveals new Starliner spacesuit with replica made by Adam Savage

China's new map of the moon captures lunar geologic features in incredible detail

The detailed map was created using data primarily from China's Lunar Exploration Program collected over the past 15 years, and was supplemented by high-quality data from international exploration missions from the U.S., Japan and India.

It reveals geologic layers, structural features and a chronology of the moon's surface, and includes 12,341 impact craters, 81 impact basins, 17 rock types and 14 types of structures.

Elon Musk says Starship will be ready for orbital flight soon

SpaceX's massive Starship vehicle may start taking to the skies in earnest this summer.

"Starship will be ready to fly next month," Space's billionaire founder Elon Musk said June 14. "We will have a second Starship stack ready to fly in August and then monthly thereafter."

See Mercury as it reaches 'greatest elongation' before dawn Thursday

Mercury will briefly reveal itself at pre-dawn tomorrow (June 16) when the planet reaches its farthest separation from the sun as seen from Earth, also known as its greatest western elongation.

The elusive horizon-hugging planet will be joined by Venus, too.

'Star Trek: Strange New Worlds' episode 6 suffers from a story quality dip

So far, "Star Trek: Strange New Worlds" has shown signs of steadily improving, even if the episode titles seem to be getting longer.

This week it's "Lift Us Where Suffering Cannot Reach" and you try squeezing that into a two-deck headline. However, even an excessively long title can't save this episode from sadly being the weakest of Season 1 thus far, but then one of them had to be.
