На заседании Ученого совета ИТФ в пятницу 22 марта в 11:30 будут
заслушаны 2 доклада:

1) M.E. Ismagambetov, P.M. Ostrovsky and _M.V. Feigel'man_
*Andreev conductance in disordered SF junctions with spin-orbit scattering*

We present an idea of a new method to measure spin-orbit scattering rate
in strongly disordered superconducting materials. The method is based
upon specific Andreev reflection phenomenon at the boundary between
superconductor and half-metal (fully polarized metallic ferromagnet). We
demonstrate theoretically that spin-orbit scattering leads to a
formation of a fluctuating in space triplet component of superconducting
order parameter ∆_p(r) with zero average. However, Andreev conduction to
half-metal is allowed due to mesoscopic fluctuations of this order
parameter. The effect is expected to be strong in superconducting
materials like amorphous InOx and others with not very large values of
kF l product.

*Точечные рассеиватели в задаче об уровнях частичной прозрачности*
(короткий доклад)

Уровень энергии E в квантовой или волновой задаче рассеяния называется
уровнем частичной прозрачности если можно подобрать падающую волну так,
чтобы не было рассеянной. Размерность ядра оператора рассеяния
называется кратностью уровня частичной прозрачности. Типичный результат
в этой области утверждает, что для регулярных рассеивателей с компактным
носителем 1) кратности всех уровней частичной прозрачности конечны и 2)
эти уровни образуют дискретное множество.
Мы разъясняем, что эти результаты имеют ограниченную применимость,
поскольку 1) В 1995 году мы показали, что в размерности 2 можно
построить регулярные потенциалы, убывающие быстрее любой степени
расстояния он начала координат, прозрачные при одной энергии. 2) Для
многоточечных рассеивателей все уровни энергии -- уровни частичной
прозрачности бесконечной кратности.

This will be the first cargo launch from SLC-40 in four years, following the completion of the facility's new launch tower, which includes a crew access arm. The upgrades allow crewed launches from SLC-40, and increases SpaceX's flexibility when scheduling astronaut launches.

Vernal equinox 2024 brings spring to Northern Hemisphere

At the equinox, the Earth will have reached the point in its orbit where its axis is at right angles to a line from the sun. Thus, the sun will then be directly over a specific point on the Earth's equator moving northward. In the sky, it's where the ecliptic and celestial equator cross each other.

New ultrablack coating for telescopes

The images we get these days from advanced telescopes, such as the James Webb Space Telescope, undoubtedly leave us in awe and wonder of galaxies that exist light-years away from Earth. DARPA picks Northrop Grumman to develop 'lunar raiload'

Railroads could open the moon to serious and sustained economic development, as they did in the American West in the late 19th century. That's apparently the hope of the U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), which is supporting the development of a "lunar railroad" concept proposed by aerospace giant Northrop Grumman.

New trailer for Zack Snyder's 'Rebel Moon Part Two'

Zack Snyder's "Rebel Moon," that castoff "Star Wars" pitch from years earlier which was reworked into a space opera project, had an ignominious start when the first half debuted on Netflix on Dec. 22, 2023 as "Rebel Moon — Part One: A Child of Fire." To put it mildly, fans and critics were harshly divided when it dropped, some praising its energetic attempt to create a new sci-fi universe, others believing it was a derivative, violent, and dispiriting affair cloned from the DNA of more familiar fare.

NASA astronaut Thomas Stafford dies at 93

Former NASA astronaut Thomas Stafford, who flew to the moon before leading the first international space mission carried out by the United States and Russia, has died at the age of 93. Stafford's death on Monday (March 18) came after an extended illness, according to Max Ary, director of the Stafford Air and Space Museum in Oklahoma.

Astronauts 'thrilled' for May Starliner launch (exclusive)

"It's a new capability," astronaut and oil rig engineer Deniz Burnham told Space.com, hours after her graduation. "Everyone is just thrilled. We're very excited for Suni and Butch, and it's going to be great." NASA's newest astronaut group graduated from basic training on March 5, just in time for the first Boeing Starliner test launch with astronauts, which is now expected in May. Veteran astronauts Suni Williams and Barry "Butch" Wilmore will fly Starliner on the roughly week-long International Space Station (ISS) mission, called Crew Flight Test.

Boeing begins fueling Starliner ahead of astronaut launch

Boeing has started fueling up its Starliner capsule ahead of the vehicle's first-ever astronaut launch. That mission, called Crew Flight Test (CFT), is currently scheduled to launch in early May atop a United Launch Alliance Atlas V rocket from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, on Florida's Atlantic coast. It will send NASA astronauts Suni Williams and Butch Wilmore to the International Space Station (ISS) for a roughly 10-day stay.

Scientists may know why supernova wears 'string of pearls'

What is particularly remarkable about SN 1987A is the fact that it is ringed by clumps of glowing hydrogen plasma - a structure that has turned into a longstanding mystery in astrophysics. A phenomenon called Rayleigh-Taylor instability is often used to explain the formation of fluid structures in plasma such as what we see around SN 1987A, but this concept alone can't fully explain the supernova remnant's cosmic jewelry.

Starship will go interstellar someday, Elon Musk says

SpaceX's Starship megarocket could eventually live up to its bold name. A future iteration of Starship, which conducted its third-ever test flight last week, will go interstellar, according to SpaceX founder and CEO Elon Musk. "This Starship is designed to traverse our entire solar system and beyond to the cloud of objects surrounding us. A future Starship, much larger and more advanced, will travel to other star systems," Musk said via X early Monday morning (March 18).
