Chinese astronauts perform record-breaking spacewalk
(CMSA)
Two Chinese astronauts just set a new spacewalking record for the country. Ye Guangfu and Li Guangsu, two members of China's three-person Shenzhou 18 mission, spent about 8.5 hours working outside the Tiangong space station yesterday (May 28). That's longer than any previous Chinese spacewalk, or extravehicular activity (EVA), according to the nation's state-run Xinhua news service.

It was the second launch of the day for SpaceX, which also sent a group of its Starlink internet satellites to orbit from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida this morning.

You might find that some top binoculars are more cost-effective, even if you were to bag one of the best telescope deals.

X-flare suggests return of sunspots from May's auroras
(NASA / SDO and the AIA, EVE, and HMI science teams / helioviewer.org)
The colossal sunspot group AR3664 responsible for the epic May 2024 solar storms and widespread auroras is back - well, almost. Though sunspot group 3664 remains hidden from NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory's view - scientists can track the sunspot's progress across the sun's far side by observing how it affects the sun's vibrations or seismic echoes, using helioseismology data.

"We really just needed to work through it as a team."
(NASA)
Starliner is still set to fly on its historic first flight with astronauts on June 1, but that could change as the team works through "complicated" issues following a small helium leak. NASA and Boeing officials emphasized they are carefully weighing the decision to launch Starliner's first test mission with astronauts to the International Space Station (ISS). The approximately one-week mission is known as Crew Flight Test (CFT) and includes NASA astronauts Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams, both former U.S. Navy test pilots.

Zooming towards its official June 4 release date, Disney+'s newest "Star Wars" live-action series "The Acolyte" will be a true test for the 47-year-old franchise during a temporary lull in big screen space opera action from that galaxy far, far away. "The Acolyte" and its 8-episode first season will roll out as a product of The High Republic era in the "Star Wars" timeline, a period of growing unrest when the fabled Jedi Knights reigned supreme some 100 years prior to the events of "Star Wars: The Phantom Menace" and the entire Skywalker Saga.
