NASA's 1st female chief engineer eyes lunar space station
(NASA)
Teresa Kinney, NASA's first female chief engineer at the agency's Kennedy Space Center (KSC), is one of the managers working to put the Gateway lunar space station together in orbit around the moon later in the 2020s. Gateway will support Artemis program landing missions on the moon in the next decade or so, but like the International Space Station, it needs to be built first.

Still alive! SLIM moon lander survives 2nd lunar night
(JAXA)
SLIM's not dead yet. The SLIM spacecraft, Japan's first-ever successful moon lander, has survived the long, cold lunar night for the second time. Mission team members announced the news via X on Wednesday (March 27), in a post that also featured a photo newly snapped by the lander's navigation camera.

Final launch of Delta IV Heavy rocket delayed
(ULA)
The Delta IV Heavy was supposed to launch for the final time yesterday (March 28), sending a U.S. spy satellite skyward from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida. But the attempt was scrubbed with just under four minutes left in the countdown "due to an issue with the gaseous nitrogen pipeline which provides pneumatic pressure to the launch vehicle systems," ULA wrote in an update.

Stardust locked in meteorite holds secrets of a star's death
(X-ray: NASA/CXC/SAO; Optical: NASA/ESA/STScI; IR: NASA/ESA/CSA/STScI/Milisavljevic et al., NASA/JPL/CalTech; Image Processing: NASA/CXC/SAO/J. Schmidt and K. Arcand)
Scientists have discovered a rare stardust particle that came from the explosive supernova death of a distant star. This speck, it seems, is locked within an ancient meteorite. The grain of dust, though small, can help tell a story of stellar life, death and rebirth that spans almost the entire 13.8 billion-year history of the cosmos. It could also allow scientists to unlock the secrets of a recently discovered type of star that dies in a unique supernova explosion.

феноменологическим выражением вида J = a_40 i[F х [E_00 [E^* x _04 ]],

ULA to launch final Delta Heavy IV rocket today. Watch live
(United Launch Alliance)
The era of Delta Heavy IV is coming to an end. For the last 64 years, United Launch Alliance's (ULA's) heavy-lift rocket has led an impressive career lofting large payloads into space. However, on Tuesday (March 28), the rocket will lift off one last time when it launches from Space Launch Complex-37 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida. The launch window opens at 1:40 p.m. ET (1740 GMT).

It's hard to beat an in-person launch experience - especially if you're watching in Mission Control, the literal hub of NASA's human spaceflight program. Reporters and flight directors gathered here at NASA's Johnson Space Center on Thursday (March 21) at a big control room screen to watch SpaceX launch its 30th robotic cargo mission to the International Space Station (ISS) from Florida. Happily, it was a flawless liftoff.

Cosmic gold rush! Astronomers find 49 galaxies in 3 hours
(ICRAR)
Astronomers have been surprised by a "gold rush" of new galaxies, racking up 49 discoveries in just 3 hours. The gas-rich galaxies were uncovered by a team using the MeerKAT radio telescope located in South Africa. They have been dubbed the "forty-niners," a callback to the nickname given to the thousands of gold miners who flocked to California during the state's Gold Rush, which peaked in 1849. The nickname is now carried by the San Francisco 49ers American football team.

Mars methane is hard to trace, but a solution might be on the way. An early-stage airplane concept called MAGGIE will soon kick off a nine-month NASA-funded study to explore its feasibility for soaring over Mars. It won't go to the Red Planet any time soon, if ever, but there's a clear science need for more flying vehicles on Mars.
