NASA's Reid Wiseman and the Canadian Space Agency's Jeremy Hansen are set to fly around the moon on Artemis 2. They walked out on the grid of the Formula 1 (F1) Grand Prix of the United States in Austin, Texas Sunday (Oct. 22), speaking with teams on site about how they keep their race cars humming safely during the big race.
This is only a partial lunar eclipse because the Earth, the moon, and the sun will not perfectly align. That means that only part of the moon will slip into the darkest part of Earth's shadow, the umbra.
The moon and Saturn are set to meet up for a night swim tonight when the two celestial bodies make a close approach to each other in the constellation of Aquarius, the Water Bearer.
The 90-second video gives viewers a spacecraft's-eye view of the major milestones of TV-D1, which lifted off from Satish Dhawan Space Centre on the island of Sriharikota. For example, from above, we see ignition of the single-stage, liquid-fueled Test Vehicle rocket, whose name puts the "TV" in TV-D1.
New analysis of Apollo 17 lunar samples suggest the moon is 4.46 billion years old, rather than 4.52 billion years old as previously estimated. Scientists behind the analysis say a more precise age helps us better understand the history and evolution of the moon, as well as Earth.
About 46 years after NASA's Voyager 1 and Voyager 2 launched on an epic journey to explore space, the probes' antique hardware continues to receive tweaks from afar.
The rover recently came across some eye-catching circular rock structures, and they are attention-grabbers for good reason. That's because they resemble ones formed by microbial communities in some lakes on Earth.
These "boo-and-brick-filled tales" appropriate for both older Jedi Masters and impressionable younglings are a brilliant bunch of amusing confections that includes "The Sith Witch of Mustafar," where the Sith Lord Darth Vader encounters a spooky ancient legend.
